Speaker Oulanyah to spend Shs1.7b on flying for U.S treatment

Speaker of Parliament Jacob Oulanyah has reportedly been secretly flown to Seattle, United States of America (USA) for specialized treatment.

Oulanyah was flown out in the wee hours of Thursday, after being discharged from Mulago National Referral Hospital where he had been admitted.

Sources reveal that government chattered Uganda Airlines’ Airbus and it charged $500,000 (about Shs1.7 billion) to fly Oulanyah and his family to Seattle.

The move to fly him out was reportedly ordered by President Museveni after Oulanyah’s health failed to improve after a week-long treatment at Mulago.

Sources reveal that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs together with the Uganda Civil Aviation Authority processed all the necessary documents to get the speaker flown out. Oulanyah was last seen in Parliament on December 21, 2021. His deputy Anita Among has mostly been in charge of the parliamentary affairs

St. Francis School of Health science Medics Urged to uphold Ethics and serve with Dedication
Prof. Barnabas Nawangwe, the Vice Chancellor Makerere University, through  Dr. Richard Muhindo delivered a powerful message at the ninth Graduation Ceremony of St. Francis schools of health science Namataba Mukono district.
Addressing 450 Graduates who were awarded nursing and midwifery certificates, Prof. Nawangwe emphasized the sacred nature of their profession and called on the graduates to shun extortion in healthcare services.
Furthermore, Nawangwe underscored the gravity of the responsibility entrusted to healthcare practitioners, urging them to approach patient care with unwavering vigilance. He urged them to exercise caution and precision in their interactions with patients.
Lugazi Diocese Bishop emeritus Rt. Rev. Dr. Mathias Ssekamanya, the guest of honour celebrant at the ceremony, lauded the graduates for their dedication to a path dedicated to preserving lives. He urged them to remain resolute in upholding the ethical standards of the medical profession.
Bishop Ssekamanya stressed that being a healthcare worker is not merely a job, but a divine calling from God to save lives. He urged practitioners to uphold the professional commitments they made, emphasizing the unethical practice of extracting money from the sick in exchange for their services.
Uganda Nurses and Midwives Examination Board – UNMEB executive secretary Birungi Nsamba Harriet, commended the founders of the institute and urged them to maintain the quality of the graduates, Ms Birungi urged the graduates to have discipline towards the patients they treat in hospitals.
Dr. Bossa Kiwanuka, the Principal of St. Francis  School of health science Nursing and Midwifery, commended the ministry of education’s guidance to the institute at every step they take.

it will be a moment to record forever as ForteBet-Alex Muhangi soccer tour stepped foot in Kayunga.

The tour, which takes place at the end of every month, was organized by ForteBet in conjunction with the company brand ambassador, Alex Muhangi.
The tour started with a give back to the community, specifically aiding expectant mothers at Ntenjeru H/C III with a number of mama kits to help them during labour time. The donation was handed over by Muhangi. ForteBet and Muhangiand received by the facility in-charge, Juliet Nabirye.

The team then proceeded to Bishop Brown Primary Ground where the teams rolled. Teams representing ForteBet branches then played in knockout encounters until the victors, Nazigo Centre, emerged.
These victors were prized with 500,000/=, footballs and club jerseys. The second placed team was also prized with 300,000/=, balls and jerseys while the other teams were given 100,000/=, jerseys and balls. The best individual players were also awarded gifts like phones and headsets

Popular Nigerian singer Adekunle Kosoko, professionally called Adekunle Gold, has finally opened up about his battle with sickle cell.

The singer stated that he was diagnosed with sickle cell at birth.

He paid tribute to sickle cell survivors during his latest stage performance.

In a now trending video on the internet, he expressed gratitude to God for a successful career and global recognition without significant health setbacks. He encouraged those with similar health challenges to remain resilient and determined in pursuing their life goals.

The singer, however, dedicated his performance of the song “5 Star” to sickle cell survivors.
